Waking The Dead

September 6, 2007

My mum didn’t hear her alarm this morning (In case you’re not a regular reader of this blog: I don’t actually live with my folks; just visiting. I do have a life).

I went into her room to wake her up and she looked dead. Maybe –probably– this is a weird thing to say, but the way she lay there shocked me. I guess you could say she was utterly relaxed, and maybe that’s just what ageing people look like when they sleep. But I swear that, when she dies, she won’t look any different from how she looked this morning, fast asleep. It was a moving, disturbing, humbling picture…

sometimes when I see my family members sleeping. I would get near so close to them just to hear them breathing… to be sure, they’re just asleep.

    a bit scary…
