A Dip A l’Improviste
October 2, 2007
I was walking along the water’s edge this morning and it all felt wonderful: the rays of the sun quite soft but strong enough to keep me from feeling chilly, the temperature of the sea a perfect lukewarm. I felt like a swim suddenly. The possibility of swimming hadn’t occurred to me when I left the house, or I’d have worn a bikini. But then there was no one around and I really did feel like a swim. So I thought, what the hell, and took the plunge (talk about a bad pun!). It was truly brilliant. But of course two very predictable things happened next…you can guess, can’t you? As soon as I was in the water, people started showing up in twos and threes, ready for a hard day’s work on that elusive tan. And secondly, I realized I didn’t bring a towel. Hah! I love being spontaneous, but there really is something to be said for planning ahead…

when my sister visited me here in los angeles, we didn’t plan to go swimming but we went into the ocean with our jeans on… it wasn’t very pleasant afterwards but sometimes there’s something special about not planning for things.
Ah, good old Sod’s Law… especially at sea, even in the shallows!
aein: true, but i was a tad more skimpily attired than you and your sister were…
jaded: yup, you said it! ^^
