Green Dust

March 5, 2008

It’s early evening and the builders downstairs are slowing down, getting ready to call it a day. They’ve switched off the little boom box belting out a selection of tacky 90s songs from paint splattered speakers, and are wrapping whatever needs to be wrapped. The sun is still bright and the wind strong, as it has been for the last couple of days. The sound of it makes me think of some dry and desolate place, somewhere far away.

This morning I found a thick layer of fine green dust covering the coffee table, blown in by yesterday’s storm. So it seems we’ve skipped winter altogether this year. Pollen in the air and cherry blossoms in full bloom: spring is here…

San Diego experienced one of its coldest Winters. But Spring is coming very soon. Well it maybe just around the corner officially, but I see the flowers blooming and dormant plants starting to come to life.

This is a nice post of yours. So descriptive that I could imagine myself right there. :o )
